The Holy Grail Re-enactment will become a biennial event

Since 2013, the ACURBA Association has organised in Bailo the Historical Re-enactment of the Holy Grail's Stay in Bailo, designated a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest. The event runs throughout the third weekend of September with the aim of sharing and highlighting this important episode in the history of our municipality, within the wider history of Aragón. Its main event is the re-enactment of the arrival of the Holy Chalice and its handover to the ecclesiastical authorities. This is the culmination of a series of cultural and recreational activities that have attracted large numbers of people over the years.

Preparing a programme of activities like the one developed over these years requires a great deal of effort from ACURBA. It is a task that occupies those responsible for much of the year, and they work entirely on a voluntary basis. But this work has borne fruit thanks to the collaboration of local residents and institutional support. After six years of intense work, we have found that innovation is necessary. The ACURBA Board has therefore agreed that, from now on, the Re-enactment will be held every two years, and we are already considering alternative ways to preserve the appeal of the Re-enactment and its cultural and recreational value in future editions.

At ACURBA, we trust that the institutions will continue to support us as they have until now so that, together, we can keep helping this Re-enactment grow and evolve. It has become a reference point for many municipalities with similar characteristics and has helped remind people of the historical importance once held by this corner of south-western Jacetania, one of the parts of Huesca province now most affected by depopulation.

Accordingly, the Historical Re-enactment of the Holy Grail's Stay in Bailo will be held biennially, in even-numbered years.
